Academy kicks off preseason programme

The Academy kicks off its preseason playing programme on Friday night at Vallis Way.

Ruislip RFC will be our opposition under the lights in what should be an tough start for the boys. Playing in London 1 North and having trained against each other last season, it will be hard to spring any surprises on the visitors.

The Academy will field a young side, our partner clubs are in full swing now so there may be a shortage of experience in the squad. However, there will be no lack of endeavour and ambition.

Academy Director John Lacey said “The boys are looking forward to getting on the pitch, we’ve trained really hard through what feels like a long summer.

We’ve added some very good players to the squad for this season and it is exciting to see how things gel. It’s always a challenge with the loan boys being away, but we make those decisions knowingly and have to accept that the instability it causes will ultimately improve all the players involved.

Places for our game against the Army are up for grabs. The players on Friday have an opportunity to stake their claim for inclusion. Its also a chance to measure the newer players against Level 6 opposition, as well as seeing our U18 lads in that environment too.”

Kick off is at 19:30, so please try to find time to come along and get behind the boys.
