Matt Garvey who was signed as an Ealing Trailfinders player back in 2008/09 season after an exceptional season left the club to sign a professional contract with London Irish. Since then he has successfully gone on to represent London Irish in the Aviva Premiership and the Heineken Cup and is now a key player in their starting line up. Matt’s work ethic and continuous development has forced England selectors to recognise his potential and hand him a call up to the England Saxons. In their first game this season against the Irish Wolfhounds Matt performed well in the Saxons 23-17 win at Sandy Park earning him a Rugby Paper rating of 7/10 and summary of “conspicuous in every respect”. We hope this is the first of many international call ups that Matt will receive.
Current Harlequins and Ealing Trailfinders loan player back row Jack Clifford was selected to start at 8 for England U20’s in their clash with Italy on Friday night (10/02/2012)which was unfortunately abandoned due to the pitch condition. Jack has already featured for the U20’s in their 6 Nations campaign this season; he picked up 2 tries in their 3-59 victory in Scotland last Friday against the Scottish U20 side. We wish him luck in tomorrow night’s fixture.
