Academy player joins up with Pro Squad

Academy U18 scrum half Josh Steadman has topped a great 2014/15 season with an opportunity to train with the Pro Squad for their pre season schedule.

In an exciting development Josh will join up with the newly promoted Championship squad for the summer and throughout the season when his studies allow.

Academy Director John Lacey said “This is a fantastic chance for Josh to accelerate his development, he worked really hard throughout last season, took the huge step up to U23 rugby in his stride and finished with a great performance at the Bedford U19 tournament. His advances should provide inspiration for all our Academy players and illustrate that with hard work and dedication there is a pathway through to potential Pro Rugby at Ealing Trailfinders”.

Further to Josh joining the Pro Squad Academy U18 lock Lewis Ellingham will join up with the Senior Academy for pre season “Lewis is another player who took huge steps last season, playing against U23 players from the Armed Services can be daunting but Lewis was a strong presence in those games and has coped with the physical demands well, we will look to work on his core and position specific technical skills while he is with us”.

Academy U18 Head Coach Dave Samuels said “the promotion of both Josh and Lewis is a massive compliment to the players in the Junior Academy and show we are definitely moving in the right direction with our Development programme”.

Congratulations to both players and best wishes for the coming weeks.
