Christmas may have seen the announcement that the Academy will again stage this fantastic event in 2019.
After the success of last seasons tournament, Vallis Way will welcome some of the clubs outside the Premiership who offer a young player, development pathway.
Uptake this year has been encouraging with 5 teams already signed up for the day.
Nottingham Academy are again going well with their programme. Having come out on top in a really close game at TFSC before Christmas, they will be sure to start as favourites to retain the trophy.
Henley Hawks are a club who have initiated a development pathway this season and gave our Academy a tough game at Dry Leas. The firm surface and dry weather will suit their attacking style.
Doncaster Academy are a new name to us, we have been interested in their progress ove the last couple of seasons and are delighted they will make the trip down to London for the day.
Old Albanians are another club looking to develop the strong youth set up they have into adult players with a transitional side that train and play periodically.
Academy Director, John Lacey said “We’re really excited to have the first 4 sides signed up to what we expect to be even bigger and better than last year.
We’re incredibly passionate about developing young players and want to help other clubs, even in this small way, provide some focus for the end of season. Last year was a great day!
Its great to see two new clubs joining us this year, hopefully we can confirm further sides in the coming weeks.”
We are looking for commercial partners for the event and would love to speak to organisations that would like to support the day.
