John Congerton RIP – Details of Funeral Service

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that John Congerton passed away on Monday afternoon after a short but hard fought battle against cancer.

John was a great Ealing man and served both the club and Middlesex in a number of capacities over a number of years. John was a former Ealing Colts manager and, along with his good friend Jim Russell, he fulfilled the same role for a number of years with Middlesex.

John took huge pride in watching his son Mark develop as an Ealing 1st XV player and go on to become 1st XV Captain in 1998/99. In recent years John, also a Vice President of the club, could be found at Vallis Way on 1st XV home match days cheering on his club and keeping Bill Taylor and George Clempson in order…not an easy task!!

We’ll miss John’s wit and cheerful demeanor and his love of our club. We send our condolences and deepest sympathy to John’s family from all at the Club.

John’s funeral will take place at Breakspear Crematorium on Wednesday 4th July at 2.15pm and then afterwards in the hall at the rear of the Adam and Eve pub in Hayes. Mark and his family have asked that instead of flowers donations can be made in memory of John at donateinmemory.cancerresearchuk.org/0002912
