Les O’Gorman

Sad news reached me this evening, a former Club colleague Frank McHale passed away yesterday following a battle with lung cancer.

Frank was one of the original Ealing Colts who began the Club’s now long association with junior rugby back in the late 1970’s. Frank was one of a cohort of St Benedict’s Schoolboys who formed the nucleus of our original under-age rugby team. Being tall he found himself generally in the 2nd Row and played Colts and Seniors during his playing career at the Club, always giving it 100% and always having something to say – usually very funny too!

It was another past player from that time Seamus Kerr who passed me news of Frank’s passing and as I said to Seamus, Frank was a real character, a phrase often overused but this time it is absolutely apt. Frank was a great guy to play alongside, to share a beer with after the game and to have as a mate. Rest in peace Frank

We will post details of any memorial service as soon as we have them. Please feel free to leave your memories and stories about Frank here on the website – email to  menschairman@ealingrugby.co.uk
