As an Amateur Rugby Club, ETRC gives a warm welcome to players at all levels. Whether you are coming to the game for the first time or returning after a break or just looking for a change, our Playing Memberships offer something for everyone – according to age, experience and inclination.

In addition, the ETRC Amateurs work closely with the ETRC Professionals. In recent years the name and colours of Ealing Trailfinders Rugby have achieved national prominence in the Greene King IPA Championship and the British & Irish Cup, with a special brand of fast and free flowing professional rugby. Many club members can be found pitch-side when the Professionals are playing and many of those same Professionals can be found giving a little extra guidance alongside regular coaches from the Junior and Senior Sections.

For details of the different playing memberships options in the Men’s, Academy and Junior Sections as well as Social membership and other ways to support the club, please see below.

Men’s Section

The Men’s Section runs four teams with a range of competitive and social match-play which caters for players of all skills levels and at all stages of a rugby career. A season-long programme of coaching and training supports player and squad development. (Further details can be found here.)

Full Membership of the Men’s Section, with nearly 150 years of history and tradition plus access to the marvellous playing facilities at Ealing Trailfinders Sports Club, represents great value for money. Other membership categories include low cost (U23) and no cost (Student) options for younger players plus flexible cost options for players whose other commitments restrict availability.

In addition to standard membership benefits, Men’s Section playing members with a paid subscription are eligible for club shorts and socks as well as an exclusive ETRC-branded stash item and discounted rates for the annual tour and other club events.

Academy Section

The ETRC Academy has been operating successfully for over five years and has helped many players realise their potential. Academy graduates go on to play Men’s Rugby for ETRC and other clubs around the country and, in some cases, to make their way into the Professional Game.

Academy membership is organised around two squads: the Senior Academy (U19 – U23) and the Academy U18. In both squads, the primary emphasis is on developing skills, fitness and teamwork through training and match-play. (Further information can be found here.)

The Senior Academy is an invitation only squad for players wanting to develop their rugby to a high level. Senior Academy players play high profile Academy fixtures as well as regular games for the Men’s squad that is appropriate for their development, which may include being on loan to another club.

Senior Academy players have access to professional rugby strength & conditioning coaching and professional physio/medical support. They are also expected to secure player sponsorship.

In addition to standard membership benefits, Junior Academy members enjoy mid-week access to physio during the season and clean match day jerseys (a real perk after years of washing).

Junior Section

Our Junior Section has been operating successfully for two decades and covers the complete range of age, size and experience in Child and Youth Rugby as we follow the RFU Age Grade Progression.

The youngest age groups handle First Steps and Teamwork followed by two years of Tag Match Play in U7/U8. Contact begins at U9 and evolves with three further years of friendly and festival matches up to U12. (Further details can be found here.)

In addition to competitive friendly fixtures, the Youth section age groups from U13 to U16 play in the Middlesex & Hertfordshire League. (Further details can be found here.)

Although many players stay and develop as ETRC Juniors for 10 years or more, each age group also caters for new arrivals, with coaching and development designed for players taking their first steps in Rugby at whatever age.

Junior Section activities are oriented around Sunday training, with Youth starting at 10:00 and Minis at 12:00. All age group parents are actively encouraged to get involved as volunteers, helping to organise and coach the players. The club provides free access to RFU Training for Coaches, Referees and First Aiders plus Child Protection Awareness for all Parent Volunteers.

The primary membership rate is based upon the age of the oldest child/player, with any younger siblings charged at the reduced additional sibling rate. Subscriptions increase as players progress through the age categories, reflecting the additional resources required as well as the cost of match play and festival. For all membership schemes there is an option to pay by instalments (a fee of 5% applies for this option). For parents who are already Playing Members, only the additional sibling subscription is required for each child.

Non-Playing Membership

Like all Clubs, ETRC depends on the enthusiasm and vigour of its whole membership to make the right things happen, both on and off the pitch. Many former players, as well as lifelong non-players, show their interest and commitment by taking out ETRC Social Membership. This gives access to the full range of club benefits, including international ticket draws and social events, as well as making a valued contribution to the wider well-being of the Club.

Other Ways to Support the Club

We are always very grateful for any donations that we receive whether they are financial or people’s energy and time, as it takes a lot to keep things working at the Club. Personal donations can be made when renewing your membership or by supporting our many fund-raising activities such as the lottery or RFU raffle.

Details of the lottery can be found here.

For people wishing to make a larger scale donation as a Section Sponsor, then we would be very pleased to discuss a package that can include advertising on, priority access to tickets for England home games, pitch side and programme advertising, match-day hospitality lunches and an exclusive ETRC stash item.

If your attention is focused on a particular Section (Men’s, Academy, Youth or Minis), then please contact the relevant Chair, or write to the ETRC Club President, Dick Craig, via
