Our Minis

Ealing Trailfinders are proud of our long tradition of supporting children to enjoy the marvellous game that is rugby. Enjoyment is the key and whatever age group the children are in we ensure that fun is a guiding principle behind training and that is carried forward into games. The minis section caters for children up to the Under 12s when they are in Year 7 at school. We ensure that all players, boys and girls, are introduced to the game and supported in their development in a safe environment and a constructive and inclusive way. We welcome children of all abilities and encourage the whole family to get involved to make the community at Ealing Trailfinders grow stronger each year. As anyone who has been to Vallis Way knows, we are lucky to have fantastic facilities which all adds to the brilliant culture at the club.

The season runs from September until early May. We generally train at home from midday but do have joint training with other clubs as well as festivals and other fixtures. At the end of the season the Minis (Under 7s to Under 12s) usually go on a tour somewhere in the UK which is a fantastic way to round off the season.

If you are interested in a free trial session, please Sign Up, or contact the Membership Secretary if you have any questions, alternatively, contact age group Head Coaches or Managers directly.

Under 5s (Rats) & Under 6s

The youngest age groups always train at home on all weather pitches. The aim is to develop skills which form the basis of rugby: running, dodging, positional awareness, ball skills, working as a team and following directions.

Under 7s & Under 8s

In these age groups the players continue their development with tag rugby. They train on Sundays from midday and play matches in festivals.

Under 9s & Under 10s

In these age groups the players are introduced to full contact and other more technical skills with the opportunity to test them in matches and at festivals. Midweek training is available for the Under 9s and above.

Under 11s & Under 12s

The Under 11s is the last year of mixed playing and kicking is introduced. In the Under 12s teams start playing league matches as they continue the path towards Youth rugby.

Our coaches, team managers, First Aiders are all parents and volunteers. Most of the coaches will have a child in the group they are coaching and some will have played the game whilst others are new to rugby but want to get involved. Volunteers are always encouraged and welcomed, with coaches supported through a variety of RFU courses on offer. All coaches, team managers, and first aiders are DBS checked. The club arranges first aid courses, which are paid for by the club.
