Ealing Trailfinders returned to Vallis Way for Saturday’s National 2 South game against Clifton on a bitterly cold January day.

Ealing’s first ever visit to Monks Lane for this National 2 South league fixture saw them return to West London with a 14 try victory under their belt.

Newbury RFC – A proud club with a proud history , but currently sitting at the bottom of National 2 South. Ealing visit Monks Lane this weekend looking to maintain their position at the top of National 2 South, but to do that they will have to continue their recent rich run of form.

A devastating first half performance by Ealing including a 38 minute first half hat trick by Phil Chesters put this National 2 South game beyond visiting Taunton at Vallis Way on Saturday.

They say rugby is a 80 minute game, and the 79th minute try but Ealing’s Neil Hallett only goes to prove that. Ealing were pushed all the way by a determined Southend outfit, but to come away from this table topping National 2 South game having kept a clean sheet, something will be extremely pleasing for the coaches and the team.

Ealing Trailfinders overcame a stubborn Henley Hawks side at Vallis Way on Saturday, in a game that many will remember for an incident in the 27th minute, which saw referee Paul Kimber send the Hawks number 8 Matt Payne off for an apparent stamping offence to Ealing’s own three try scoring wing Phil Chesters.
