Under 6

Welcome to the 2020/21 season.

Ealing Rugby’s U6s age group welcome children who are in Year 1 at school.

Training is weekly from 12-1pm, you can arrive a little earlier to get ready and warm up. The season runs from September to May. We train on the all weather astro pitch next to the tennis courts (behind the main club house).

Over the course of the season our focus is build further on the core skills from Rats, preparing the children for TAG rugby which they should start to play competitively when they are in the U7’s.

Suitable for boys and girls of all abilities we do lots of races, ball work (handling, passing, picking-up, moving the ball backwards), drills, evasion and team building. As the season progresses we aim to have the children playing tag rugby which is a non-contact, fast moving invasion game suitable for everyone. Teams are made up of about 5 players on a small pitch. The teams are made up of mixed ability children so suitable for everyone. Above all else we are all about putting the children first and having fun!

All our coaches and First Aiders are parent volunteers who are DBS checked. Our coaches are RFU Level 1 qualified. The coaches have a tremendous passion for the game of rugby and we absolutely love to see the children having such a good time at the sessions. Rugby is an amazing way to learn and understand team sport, meet new friends and get fit, most importantly it’s hugely fun. There is plenty of opportunity for parents to get involved and we are always looking for additional volunteers.

If this sounds like it might be of interest to you and your children, please get in touch and come along for a free 3-week trial and see what it’s all about.

Currently, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our youngest players the Rugby Rats and U6’s are not training until further notice.
